Have any of you ever heard this man speak before? Let alone do an interview? This absolutely is one of the wildest interviews I’ve ever done. NO LIE… Darko Milicic must have cursed about 30 times during the interview, I’ve never had an athlete do this before. He’s bitter about his NBA experience thus far folks after being chosen in 2003 in the NBA draft over players like Carmelo Anthony and Dwayne Wade. Darko was born in Novi Sad, Serbia, Yugoslavia and became a child prodigy in Europe in Hoops. NBA scouts scouted him from an early age and at the ripe age of 17 he was drafted by the Detroit Pistons 2nd overall in the 2003 NBA draft, the same draft as Lebron James, Carmelo Anthony, Dwayne Wade, Chris Bosh and Dwayne Wade. Ultimately Milicic who has averaged just 5.4 points and four rebounds over his seven year career has been looked at as a complete bust by all basketball observers. In Darko’s defense however he has was never given a serious opportunity to prove himself and play. After being chosen number two overall in 2003 then Detroit head coach Larry Brown left him sitting at the end of the bench all season long which is where he stayed until he was eventually traded to the Orlando Magic after two and a half seasons in Detroit. Since then Darko has moved on to Memphis and now the New York Knicks. Since leaving Detroit Milicic has gotten a little more playing time in his other spots but still hasn’t found a team willing to give him a whole lot of minutes and now this season in New York he has hardly played in any games. Darko Milicic talks to me about this and more in an interesting interview.
